This is Halloween!

It's that time again...time for adults to dress up and act like fools. Oh yeah, and for kids to trick-or-treat. I'm here to talk about a little of both.

Tomorrow night, come to the library from 6:30 - 8:30 PM for our annual Halloween party! There's a costume contest for kids and adults, trick or treating, a fortune teller, goodies and a free performance by improv group The Brainstormers. Please bring a non-perishable food item. All items will go to the Zion Lutheran Food Bank.

There's so many Halloween shows happening this weekend, that I'm not going to pretend to know about them all. So here's a few that sound awesome.

"Ain't No Weather Fouler" Video is UP!

Well that was quick! I'm positively giddy. The video looks amazing, thanks to Brian Lillie, the director, Janna Lillie, makeup and hair, Drunken Barn Dance and my fellow zombies.

Video Vixen

Add "Film Extra" to my resume please. This past Saturday I had the privilege of being made into a horrific specimen of the undead for Drunken Barn Dance's "Ain't No Weather Fouler" music video shoot. I'll keep the specifics secret, but DBD fans should prepare themselves for something amazing. Keep an eye on their MySpace and Facebook and blog for news about the video!

Here's some pictures from the best day I've had in at least a year. More here.

MLA Here I come!

Today, I had to send in my Power Point presentation to MLA so that it can be uploaded to their Conference website. You know what this means, right? That whenever someone Googles me, they'll find my presentation on Local Music in Libraries. That's a pretty sweet web-legacy, I think. Anyway, I'm going to give my fair readers a sneak preview of that presentation. Let me know what you think!

Ypsi Fest 2010

Yes, another fest. I know. But don't forget that it's a great and cheap way to see a BUNCH of bands. YpsiFest kicks off tomorrow night at the lovely Savoy. Thursday looks pretty darn good. Go and listen to some music for me and report back.

First Stop Friday: Spitting Nickels and The Mantons

This month's First Stop Friday features Spitting Nickels and The Mantons. Spitting Nickels is great garage rock with awesome harmonies and Hammond B3 thrown in. The Mantons are a rootsy rock band with virtuoso harmonica and signature vocals. Sounds like a great FREE, rockin' show to me! Let me know you'll be there on Facebook and don't forget to invite your friends.

I'm not sure what I'll dream up for giveaways, but just be sure to check in on Foursquare that night!

First Stop Friday October: Recaps and Pictures

What can I say? This month's First Stop Friday was a huge success, with amazing sets by both The Bell Beat and Timothy Monger State Park. The Sh! Mob, the projected images and messages posted by audience members, was ridiculously fun, and I totally wish I had thought of it. The last minute goodie bags filled with a 90s CD, bouncy eyball, silly bandz and Mentos seemed to go over well. The audience was LARGE, and that's not just by library standards. I narrowly avoided crying when giving my final thank yous, mostly due to my intense fear of embarrassment, but I'll tell you, it was a close one.

Here's a video!

Please enjoy these pictures!
